IOWA FALLS, IA – Hansen Family Hospital is pleased to announce the purchase of a LUCAS Device for Emergency Services through a donation from the hospital foundation board. The LUCAS Device is a mechanical chest compression system designed for consistent and effective CPR. Through this generous donation, the hospital will have a device onsite that will improve the quality of CPR provided in an emergency situation, increase rescuer safety by reducing physical fatigue, and increase the chances of better patient outcomes.
Brittanee Deeringer, ER Nurse Lead and Trauma Coordinator said, "The LUCAS device is a lifesaving innovation, delivering consistent, high-quality chest compressions during cardiac arrest when every second counts. In our community, it ensures first responders and hospital teams can focus on advanced care while maintaining uninterrupted CPR. For critical access hospitals, where resources may be limited, having a LUCAS device can mean the difference between life and death—providing patients with the best chance of survival and recovery."
Noah Goedken, Foundation Director said of the donation, “Our goal is to support the hospital in enhancing the quality of healthcare in the communities we serve. Adding the LUCAS system to our emergency department ensures that our team can deliver high-quality, consistent CPR during critical moments. This will improve patient outcomes while also supporting our amazing team by allowing them to focus on other life-saving measures in what could be the toughest moments in our patients’ lives. We’re proud to invest in resources that make a real difference for our community.”
