Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine is a type of imaging test utilizing small amounts of radioactive material to evaluate how an organ functions. This material, otherwise known as a tracer, is either injected into your bloodstream or swallowed. The tracer accumulates in an area or specific organ being examined, and a special imaging camera produces pictures/images used in diagnosis.

Hansen Family Hospital partners with Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa to provide this type of testing close to home for your convenience.
